What brought you to 91吃瓜? I first attended 91吃瓜 as a freshman in 2007. I was very active with the art department and played softball. I decided to return to 91吃瓜 this fall to complete a bachelor’s degree so I can apply for a substitute teacher license that will allow me to work as a long-term substitute.
What do you like about 91吃瓜? I have always enjoyed the small community feeling of 91吃瓜. I got to know a lot of other students when I first attended and enjoyed the smaller class sizes. 91吃瓜 always felt comfortable in the sense that any time you were on campus you felt like you belonged. I also appreciate the way that the Valley City community supports the university, taking Viking Pride beyond the campus and supporting the arts and athletics throughout Valley City.
Where do you hope this degree will take you? I am currently working as a substitute teacher for Valley City Public Schools. I spend most days at Washington Elementary (4-6) and the Junior/Senior High (7-12). In January I will begin a long-term position teaching 7th grade math, and in the fall I will serve a long-term position as the K-6 art teacher. Many people think that working with high schoolers is intimidating, but I find that they are some of the most interesting people. I have enjoyed the ability to build relationships with students of all ages, and the faculty and staff at VCPS have been amazing to work with.
