What attracted you to 91³Ô¹Ï?
I’ve lived in Valley City my entire life. My parents met at 91³Ô¹Ï and my sister and her husband both completed their degrees through 91³Ô¹Ï. I hadn’t considered attending until I decided I wanted to become an English teacher. 91³Ô¹Ï has one of the best education programs and I like that I’m still around my family. I also really like how small the campus is because I’ve gotten to know both my classmates and professors.Ìý

Why did you choose your specific major?
In high school, I always enjoyed reading and writing. My sister wasÌýactually theÌýfirst person to mention that I could teach English. From that point on, I couldn’t get out of my head. I like the idea of sharing my passion for reading and writing with others.Ìý

What do you enjoy most about your major?
Two things that I really enjoy about my major are the classes and the people within my major. I like analyzing text and having discussions about what we think the author is trying to accomplish. However, I don’t think I would enjoy these aspects as much if it weren’t for the people within my major. We all enjoy discussing what we read and sharing our writing with one another.Ìý

How is 91³Ô¹Ï helping you reach your goals?
91³Ô¹Ï has helped me achieve my goal of becoming a future educator. My classes and professors have prepared me to go out and teach in today’s high school. I have grown into myself at this school and have found new interests and hobbies.Ìý

Which activities or groups are you involved in on campus?
I have been involved in the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), Alpha Lamba Delta (President for 2019-2020 school year), the National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement (NAFSCE), Art Club, English club, tutoring, L2L mentor (2019-2020 school year), Collaborative Editor of The Forge (spring of 2019), Homecoming Organization Crew, Student Senate, and Chi Alpha.Ìý

What do you enjoy most about 91³Ô¹Ï?
I really enjoy my classes, peers, and professors. The further I’ve gotten into my major the more interested and involved I’ve become in the subject and materials. I like the fact that I’m learning about writing and diving deeper into the stories we read.Ìý

What are some of your hobbies?
Some of my hobbies include reading, writing, drawing, and rollerblading.Ìý
